DOUGLAS ROSS

Managing Director

Douglas Ross assumed the role of Managing Director for Square Peg International after retiring his Partnership in Watson Wyatt where he supported clients for over a decade in 20 countries for their Human Capital Group. He is recognised for a dynamic and practical consulting approach that has evolved during a career that has included executive management, theatre production, military and manufacturing management assignments.

He has been honoured by the Canadian Government for his leadership work and in December 2002 was identified by the Independent Newspaper as one of the top 10 management consultants in the UK. He has an MBA, is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), a Visiting Fellow at Kingston University and Associate Professor of Marketing Strategy at the Canadian School of Management.

JIM MACKAY

Associate Director

Jim Mackay is an Associate director of Square Peg and worked with members of the team for almost 20 years. He is the Managing Partner of Berkeley Consulting in Toronto and an Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management at the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is a recognised international expert in the field of strategic leadership.

ALEX SOLOMON (NEE ACKROYD)

Junior Consultant 

Alex Solomon is a Square Peg Junior Consultant currently studying towards her MSc in Human Resource Management at Birkbeck College London, she holds her qualifications as a Management Consultant and is hoping to become certified late 2020 following her degree completion, she is a member of the Institute of Consulting, CMC and the CIPD. In her role as junior consultant, she has supported Square Peg with various change initiatives assisting a variety of global clients including The Coca-Cola Company (Europe Group), Avios Group Ltd (British Airways/Iberia/Airmiles), Summit Plc, Mayborn Group (UK) and Bremer Financial (USA).

Alex holds a BSc. from Kent University and was formerly an executive member of the university sports committee and Vice-Captain of the Kent University Ladies' 1st Hockey team. Alex pursued her passions for sport and travel by playing polo in Argentina and taking a year out to teach English and study Spanish in Barcelona.

DR. KAREN SOMERVILLE

Management Consultant

Dr. Karen Somerville is a management consultant, educator, executive coach, researcher, and public speaker. With more than 25 years of experience in senior management, Karen is a dynamic, results-oriented professional with extensive experience in all three sectors (private, public and non-profit). As a management consultant, she has worked successfully with very diverse clients from The World Bank to the Auditor General of Canada to high technology companies. Her research has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Change Management, Public Admin Quarterly, and the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management.

Karen holds a PhD in Management (Carleton University), an MBA (University of Ottawa), and a Certified General Accountant’s designation (CGA Ontario).

NICK MOTTERSHEAD

Business Advisor

Nick Mottershead is an experienced executive and business advisor having led various businesses including a global business for Ernst & Young and privately backed SMEs, who has worked with and advised many boards and senior executives of both public and private organisations around the world. The first 15 years of his career was at Ernst & Young where he trained as a Chartered Accountant, which culminated in his appointment as their youngest Global Practice Leader. He set up and led Ernst & Young’s Global Risk Management Practice and led the development of their Governance, Risk Management and Programme Assurance frameworks. He has spent the last 10 years leading various privately backed new technology businesses, from seed capital fund raising through to sale.

He has written various thought leadership articles including co-authoring ‘The IT Elephant in the Room – What’s Stopping Automation in Big Enterprises’, authoring Risks That Matter – The Causes of Sudden Increases and Decreases in Shareholder Value’ in conjunction with Oxford Metrica, and Managing Risk to Protect and Grow Shareholder Value’ for the London Stock Exchange. He also contributed to various governance frameworks around the world including the UK’s recent Walker Report and has been a member of various government national expert groups such as for the UK electricity industry deregulation


He is a fellow of the ICAEW and has a degree in Cybernetics and Control Engineering.

KATIE JENKINS

Associate

Katie Jenkins is a Square Peg Associate who has worked with us for a number of years. Previously an Operations Director in the construction, salvage and insurance industries. She also has comprehensive experience of Program Directorship.

Katie completed her BA Degree & post graduate Diploma in Management and Finance in 1993. She has since gained over 20 years commercial experience encompassing Project Management to being a Board member. Katie has worked for blue chip multinationals, start-ups and internet businesses. She can list clients such as RAC, Norwich Union and Avios Group Ltd (British Airways/Iberia/Airmiles).

ALFONSO JIMENEZ & SUSAN MARCOS

Square Peg has a broad network of associates throughout the world which has been built over many years of international consulting.

Our sister organisation, People Matters, was founded at the same time as Square Peg since which time we have worked together on many international corporate assignments.

Alfonso Jiménez is co-founder partner of People Matters where his clients include Axa, Pfizer and Grupo Santander. Prior to this, he was the Managing Consultant for the Spanish subsidiary and partner of Watson Wyatt Worldwide and a member of the Human Capital Practice in Europe. He conducts conferences and seminars in various business and academic forums and contributes to a number of courses for consultants on a regular basis. He teaches at the Instituto de Empresa Business School and in 2003 was named one of the Spain’s Top Ten “Management Gurus”.

Susana Marcos is co-founding partner of People Matters and has vast experience in areas like retribution, organizational effectiveness, and change management. Prior to this, she was Practice Leader of the Human Capital Group at Watson Wyatt where she contributed to building the company in Spain from 1997. Previously, she worked as an HR consultant for Andersen Consulting and was HR Manager in the financial services sector. Susana has consulted both in Spain and Latin America for local and multinational companies in all sectors. She also conducts seminars and conferences in diverse academic and business forums. 
Graduate of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Education with a Master’s degree in Human Resources and an Executive MBA (IESE, Madrid).
